The McDevitt Room
One of the most important issues that needed to be dealt with when Bishop McDevitt was closed was what to do with the numerous items of McDevitt school history. The original plan was to have it displayed at St. Raymond Parish. We moved everything we had over there and began to organize the items when a change in leadership at St. Rays required us to rethink our plans. We were then able to enter into an agreement with the Knights of Columbus in Glenside in which they allowed us space for a display.
Thank you to the Knights for allowing us room in their building for our new home which showcases the history of Bishop McDevitt High School. We are not nor sure where we would be without Mr. Ed Hughes and the Knights. We have worked hard over the last several years to put a display together of our Alma mater's history that we have named The McDevitt Room. This room is accessible to any class holding a reunion at the Knights or any other McDevitt related group that would like to see it. We are also working on setting up dates for alumni to visit the room. Also, you may request a private tour with one of our team members that we can try to accommodate.
The Friends of Bishop McDevitt need your support for the maintenance and upkeep of this room. We are always looking for McDevitt items for the displays and if you are able, financial support for the McDevitt Room.
Please see the video below produced by Gary Chilutti '74 of the dedication ceremony of the McDevitt Room on December 9, 2023. We also have added pictures of the progression of work in the McDevitt Room .
